This book gives an overview of the history of Muslim Turks, starting with a brief history of pre-Islamic periods. The first chapter on pre-Islamic Turkish history and civilisation is followed by chapters on Turks' adoption of Islam, the early Muslim-Turkish dynasties, the Karahanids, the Gaznawids, the Great Seljukid State, the Seljuks of Syria, Anatolia, Iraq and Kirman, the Harizmshahs, the Atabegs of Azerbaijan, the Anatolian principalities, Turkish States in India, the Baburid dynasty, and Turkish-Islamic States of Central Asia. Turkish edition (original) 'This is not a detailed history but rather one that attempts to provide an overview, present a certain orientation, and 'fill the gap of information and references caused by the scarcity of academic publications about the history of the Turks.' The authors present an interesting general cross-section of Turkish scholars.
